I’m Theresa Chavarria, an Editorial Wedding Photographer based in Sonoma County. Although Sonoma County has always been home, I spent many of my early professional years as a full-time Wedding Photographer in Las Vegas, Nevada.
Before I discovered my passion for wedding photography, I worked in the equine industry as a horse trainer, photographer, and magazine graphic designer. I’ve always been drawn to detail, composition, glamour, and fashion, so when I made the transition into wedding photography, it combined everything I loved into one profession.
For me, wedding photography is about being invited into one of the most important days of someone’s life. That trust means everything to me. Being able to document those moments is a privilege, and it’s what I love to do.
Before it had a name, I was already shaping the vision.
Where It All Began For Me.
Magazine-Style from the Beginning.
I started describing my work as “Magazine-Style Wedding Photography” years before editorial became the popular term in the wedding industry. To me, it has never meant stiff fashion poses. It has always meant creating photographs that look refined enough for a magazine while staying true to the people in front of my camera.
Underneath It All.
My editorial photographs are the finished result people see. What they don’t see is the connection that happens first.
Every couple is different. Before I ever begin directing, I spend the first few minutes simply getting to know who they are together. Some couples are naturally expressive. Others are quiet and reserved. My job isn’t to change that—it’s to recognize it and photograph them in a way that feels genuine.
